Education in Jaipur: Landscape, Scenario and Scope

Rajasthan’s most fascinating destination, Jaipur has been rapidly growing in the fields of academics. It has been a popular education hub for students across the country. Student from different parts of India and mainly from Rajasthan contribute to the young population in the city. Jaipur is well known for quality education right from primary to university level education. The city bears the average literacy rate in Jaipur district as per census 2011 75.51% of which males and females are 86.05 % and 64.02 % literates respectively.

Education is available to every age group including child education, girl’s education, higher education and adult education. The education affairs of the city come under the purview of Ministry of Education of Government of Rajasthan and its different nodal agencies. Also there are many institutions in Jaipur under direct control of Central government.

The city follows 10 2 3/4 system of education. Language of instruction is mainly English and Hindi. Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education administers Class X/XII Board examination across state including Jaipur. Further students can go here to study different study streams basic/professional including engineering, sciences, medicine, agriculture, arts, computer science, mathematics and law etc.

Kindergarten education is not compulsory but city has pre-Primary Schools in plenty. Many parents normally in case if both are working prefer to enroll small children to a preparatory school so would be ready to attend formal education staring class one.

For the education of youth and to those looking for early jobs, city has many vocational training institutions. These institutes offers short term programmes like 1 month to 12 months duration and awards certificate. For example, certificate in Computer languages, web designing, tour and travel, bartending courses etc. Such programmes help young job seekers in applying for a job.

Education holds very high value in social settings of Jaipur. People prefer to go for higher studies. Reason enough why there are many professional colleges and training institutions. In terms of education and literacy Jaipur is among one of the top cities of Rajasthan.
